Reimagining a Family Retreat: A Modern Twist on a Classic Space I Top Office Interior Design Firms in Jakarta Utara

Returning to your childhood home often brings a mix of nostalgia and new opportunities. Our recent project involved updating a cherished rumpus room in a client’s family home. Though the room had lost its charm, it still featured a well-preserved billiard table and vintage armchairs that we decided to keep.

Design Challenge

The space was dark and unwelcoming. Our mission was to transform it into a warm, inviting area suitable for both adults and children. We also needed to incorporate modern entertainment options while retaining some classic elements.

Design Solution

We chose to highlight the original exposed brick walls. They provided a solid foundation for our color scheme. To brighten the room, we painted the pine ceilings and added a plush carpet. This combination brought light and warmth to the space.

To connect the room with the lovely garden outside, we designed a multi-level platform. This feature includes space for a screen, storage for books and records, and extra seating.

Decor Details

For the decor, we selected warm, playful colors and rich textures for custom joinery, cushions, and upholstery. Gold accents in artwork and a pendant light added a touch of sophistication. The reupholstered armchairs introduced a retro feel, adding character to the room.

Final Thoughts

We hope this redesigned rumpus room will create new memories for the next generation, just as it did for our client. This project blends classic charm with modern comfort, perfect for family gatherings and relaxation.
